WRFC U13 Warriors Clean Up at Hounslow

U13 Warriors faced a 10-man CB Hounslow in the second leg of their League campaign today, building on their 5-0 victory earlier in the season.  Even with the home advantage, CB Hounslow found it tricky to contain a rampant Warriors squad, determined to make up for the disappointments of recent weeks.  The team was without Darcey, Tyler and Leon today but a new experimental formation delivered the goods, with Warriors 4-0 up at half-time.

Matt got on the scoresheet first, completing an impressive turn with the ball before firing home just inside 8 minutes.  Marc made it 2-0 three minutes later, with a crafty high ball delivered from about 15 yards out.  A few minutes later, Cristiano found the back of the net, only to have his goal belatedly disallowed due to an offside decision.

Jack ruled the roost for the latter part of the second half, with a tap-in at about 25 minutes, after CB Hounslow failed to clear their lines in response to a Charlie free kick. He made it a brace in the 34th minute from a Matt assist and some fine joined-up football from the forwards in the final third of the pitch.

Nick came on in the second half and made a good impact out on the far side of the pitch.  However, the team’s momentum worryingly slowed in the early stages of the second half and permitted a consolation goal for CB Hounslow.  Warriors paid the price in the 49th minute for failing to close down a CB Hounslow striker and suddenly the score was 4-1.  It wasn’t until 53 minutes that Matt scored at close range from another Charlie free-kick, re-establishing Warriors’ confidence and a clear four goal lead: 5-1.

At 62 minutes, Warriors were awarded a penalty and Marc slotted the ball home from the spot to make it 6-1.

Special mention today to Joe and Alex for deputy goalkeeping duties in the first and second half respectively.  Thanks also to Darren Heath for lino duties and to Peter for his passable impression of an SYL Pitch Marshal.  Come on you Warriors!
