U7 Pirates Notch Up Their Second Win!

Worplesdon Rangers U7 Pirates v Yateley United Tigers

Surrey Primary League Brown Placing Cup: Sunday 22nd November 2015

By Clare Jones, Pirates Team Rep

So, despite it being absolutely freezing, the Pirates warmed up to play for the Plate in the Brown Placing Cup today.  It was a slow start, which saw the home team a few goals down. Some parents, having witnessed some very heavy losses earlier in the season, started to panic that our winning streak was going to be short-lived and limited to only one game. But no! The Pirates were undaunted and came out fighting in the second quarter to level the score. The players were all enthusiasm, whatever position they were playing in.  Those boys that had seemed like natural defenders gave it a good go up front and vice-versa.  Our midfield was strong and our goalies all make excellent saves at some point.

We finished the third quarter level, but came into our own in the final quarter, resulting in a win.  Connor was our Man of the Match, but in fact all the Pirates did us proud.  We were well-matched with our opponents and it was a great game to watch and all the players seemed to have a ‘blast’!  The parents are I think, starting to get a taste for winning.  Bring it on…..
