U13 Trojans Progress in League Cup
Horsley Youth Bullets U13s 5-6 WRFC U13 Trojans
Surrey Primary League Junior Cup: Sunday 15th November 2015
Adam Elton was the cup hero for Trojans, with a hat trick including the extra time winner against Horsley Bullets U13’s. On a blustery afternoon the teams were involved in a tense and extremely close encounter. A very early lead by the hosts was cancelled out by a Jake Gumbrell goal. Horsley once again went ahead after a defensive mix up, only for Harry Gray to score a wonder goal from distance, once again levelling the score. A further breakaway goal just before half time saw Horsley go into the break 3-2 up.
After the restart, Horsley pushed home their advantage and scored two more goals without reply. The game looking out of reach for the Trojans took a turn for the better when Adam Elton sprung the home team’s offside trap before firing in off the ‘keeper’s left-hand post. The tide was turning and Lewis McEntee then scored another Trojans’ goal from close range after a scramble. Shortly after another good run and devastating low cross by Jack Crooke the team was rewarded when we saw Elton score again from close range at the back post levelling the match 5-5. The final whistle blew and extra time was required.
The game moved into extra time and with no further goals, only two minutes left and with penalties looming, Elton collected the ball from his own half turned and then charged up the pitch evading three defenders, before lofting and bending the ball over the advancing goalkeeper into the empty net and completing his hat trick. A great comeback for the Trojans who won 6-5 and advance to the next round.
