The Club’s new U12 team continued its evolution today, narrowly missing out in a home defeat 4-2 to Burpham Juniors.
The boys were unlucky to be 2-0 down at half-time, with several near-misses, including a crossbar challenge near-miss from Alfie.
Heads did not drop for the second half as the boys came out fighting to get back into the game, Jake making two crucial saves in the process. Both the team’s goals were scored during the second shift, Alfie putting his name against both, with Fred working hard to try and make it three.
The overall feeling was the boys deserved at least a draw – but due to the vagaries of the fixtures list, they get another crack against the same opposition away next weekend.
MoM went to Marcus for his work rate and overall contribution.
The team’s thanks go out to Sean Crooke for pitch-marking and lino duties today, with a firm offer of permanent flag-waving employment if he is at a loose end any Sunday between now and May 2017.
