Chairman’s Welcome to Season 2017-2018
Welcome to Worplesdon Rangers FC’s 17th season!
“Surely every child should be able to play football if they want to?”
These words, uttered by Brian Slyfield, one of the original founders of the club, exemplify the ethos of Worplesdon Rangers and the reason why the club was originally formed: not to create the most successful team but to create an environment where children enjoy and want to play football, allowing them to develop both as individual players and as part of a team.
Formed in 2001 the club continues to go from strength to strength, providing football from the Reception age-group up to U18’s. Based in the heart of the community of Stoughton, Guildford our mini-soccer centre is located at Northmead School. We have venues at Stoughton School, Weyfield Primary Academy and Christ’s College, plus a number of other venues in and around the Guildford area. We are also delighted to be continuing our collaboration with Worplesdon Phoenix FC where, in addition to the use of the pitch, we host our club meetings.
As part of our on-going efforts to improve the quality of coaching across the club we have an ongoing partnership with Woking FC Football In The Community, with Woking Academy coaches delivering coaching sessions every week to our U6 players, and on a regular basis to other mini-soccer age groups. Players and coaches alike are benefitting greatly from this professional coaching support.
So, welcome to Worplesdon Ranger FC. If your son or daughter would like to join us, if you would like to volunteer to help in the running of the club, or if you are a sponsor who would like to support a community club that believes passionately in providing enjoyable football for players of all abilities, then please do get in touch – we’d love to hear from you.
