U12 Warriors Inch Forward In the County Cup

Worplesdon Warriors U12 0 – 0 Corinthian Casuals Juniors (Warriors win 5-4 on pens)

This was Warriors’ first experience of County Cup football, against SYL Division 4 Corinthian Casuals.  Coming as it did after last week’s League Cup scare, Warriors were back on form and although the team dominated possession throughout the match, finishing today lacked the killer touch in front of goal.  Impressive performances from Darcy who showed great composure in defence (and earned plaudits from the opposition Manager) and Tyler who was relentless in his battling, along with Charlie.  Leon pulled off several fine saves in goal but his real moment of glory was in the penalty shoot-out that immediately followed the full-time whistle. All five Warriors selected for penalties assuredly found the back of the net, while King Leon rattled Corinthian nerves by deflecting penalty #2 out of the danger area.  Back to the League next week after a two-week Cup run!
