WRFC Warriors End U12 Season On a High Note
Kingstonian Youth FC Tournament: Sunday 26th June 2016
Warriors brought their U12 season to an end today with a fitting finale against the great and the good of the Surrey Youth League. Competition standards in the SYL are amongst the highest in the area in any event but Warriors fought hard today against teams – many of whom are placed one or two divisions above them in the SYL – to reach the Cup Quarter Finals.
Today’s battle came on the back of the Cup Final win by U12 Titans at the Kingstonian Youth girls’ tournament last weekend.
The Warriors remained unbeaten in the group stages, playing 5, winning 2 and drawing 3:
- CB Hounslow 0-0 WRFC U12 Warriors
- Kingstonian Royals (2) 0-0 WRFC U12 Warriors
- WRFC U12 Warriors 2-0 Ewell Saxons (Emily; pen, Marc)
- Doverhouse Lions Whites 1-2 WRFC U12 Warriors (Marc, Charlie)
- WRFC U12 Warriors 0-0 Met Police Blues.
The group ‘B’ table ended thus:
Met Police Blues | 10 points |
Kingstonian Royals | 9 points |
WRFC U12 Warriors | 9 points* |
Ewell Saxons | 2 points |
CB Hounslow | 2 points |
*Placed 3rd as Kingstonian scored 5 goals to Warriors’ 4….
And so to the Quarter Final which meant a return fixture against Met Police Blues, winners of Warriors’ Group ‘B’ (Warriors playing the role of ‘Best 3rd Place (2)’). It was a closely fought game, with the lone winning goal from Met Police Blues coming three-quarters of the way through the match – a right-footed strike that hit the post and in.
Great battling today from the team, who now turn their attention to their transition to the 11-a-side game in September.
