Worplesdon Rangers AFC Win Surrey & Hants Border League Div 4

WRFCs spin-off adult club, Worplesdon Rangers AFC announced on 24th January 2016 that they had won the Surrey and Hants Border League Division 4 by a comfortable margin, having played 12 of their 14 scheduled League fixtures undefeated.  The team has scored 74 goals and only conceded eight during this season’s campaign.

Says AFC Secretary Chrisi Liesicke, “….There’s only been one defeat for the team so far this season: 1-0 to Stoughton and Westborough RBL (joint top of Division 3) in the Invitation Cup, Group ‘H’.  We’re hoping to get through to the Quarter Finals having only played three of our six games, with our next fixture this coming Sunday at Stoke Rec against Stoughton and Westborough RBL….“.

This weekend, the team played in the first round of the Prince Albert Cup, beating West Addlestone (joint top of Division 3, together with Stoughton and Westborough RBL) 5-4 – and are through to the Quarter Finals.

Set up in 2013, WRAFC has been the adult football home for several former WRFC players, including Jacob Slyfield, Matt Chatfield, Toby Chilton, Cain Fitzsimmons, Josh Eichen, Jack Lacey and Luke Liesicke.

Congratulations to the team from Worplesdon Rangers FC and good luck in those Cup runs!
