Pollution Affects Footballers

Air pollution can affect how well footballers play, according to new research.

Academics in Germany analysed games in the Bundesliga for the 12 years up to 2011 and found that the players’ performance fell by up to 16% when air pollution levels were high.

‘We find that negative effects of pollution….increase with the individuals’ age’ said the researchers, from the IZA economic institute in Bonn.
