Football Team Scores at Last!

A women’s football team that took three seasons to score a goal when they started as juniors is celebrating after becoming league champions.

The Amazons girls’ side did not win a game for four seasons after it was founded at a Chester-le-Street primary school, 12 years ago.

But a 1-0 win against nearest rivals Darlington Spraire Ladies saw the team, which still has three of its original players, clinch the title in the Durham County FA Women’s Development Division match – and earn promotion….
