Club Achieves Good ‘Fair Play’ Scores From Surrey Primary League

respect-barriers.ashxMany of our teams play their football in the Surrey Primary League (SPL).  The SPL takes fair play and the behaviour of participating clubs and teams seriously and publishes annual ‘Fair Play’ scores.  The scores are recorded by Team Managers on match cards each Sunday, which are then analysed by the League.

Out of 4,680 matches played in the SPL during 2015-2016, 8,047 match cards were submitted (a completion rate of 86%).  The average Fair Play score returned was 4.66 out of 5, the average Manager and Supporters score was 4.72 out of 5, with the average combined score 4.69 out of 5.

Against this backdrop, it is interesting to see how Worplesdon Rangers FC teams fared.  Here are the highlights:

  • U8 ‘Green’ returned the highest team average rating at 4.96
  • 7 out of 12 teams playing in the SPL returned average scores above the League average of 4.69
  • The Club’s average scores ranged from 4.23 to 4.96, with the lower scores tending to be associated with the older teams (a not uncommon phenomenon)
  • Our Club average score overall was 4.69 – identical to the League average.

All in all, a good set of results with some leeway for further improvement next season, including the timely completion and return of those all-important match cards!
